Strategies for Men over 65 to understand health risks and stay healthy
Numerous studies have shown that men avoid visiting their doctor and often ignore health issues. As we age these seemingly small issues that were previously overlooked start taking a toll.
Understanding how aging affects your body can offer simple solutions to maintaining your health and feeling your best. Staying active – getting at least 2½ hours of physical activity each week – scheduling regular check-ups, eating well, and sleeping 7-8 hours each night can significantly reduce health risks.
It’s also important to be mindful that caring for your health is more than just physical. In fact, nearly one in ten men report experiencing some form of depression or anxiety, but less than half will seek treatment. Outside of exercise and meditation, which are both positive ways to reduce anxiety and stress levels, don’t be afraid to talk to someone who can help.
Recognizing potential health risks can help you take care of your mental and physical health and keep you healthy for years to come.
